My child wanted to be a goth at 16...?

He explained that it was a lifestyle choice, that it is not what most stereotypes claim it to be, and that it is more about art, literature, history, and music, not about all the bad hypes the media gives it. I told him fine, since I thought it was a phase, but now he has come back from college at 26 (Ph.D), and is STILL in that phase. Will he ever grow out of that immaturity?
